Slow pitch softball provides opportunities for developing players

A new format of softball was introduced this week in the Central Zone Division 2 Girls competition. With rules suited to allowing everyone to have a hit, fielders being a lot more active, short games of 30 minutes and easy self-umpiring, this proves to be a fun format for developing players.

On hand for the first night of competition was Stanley Doney (Softball NZ Development Manager) to explain the rules to the teams to ensure maximum success and enjoyment.

This format is also being offered in Division 2 at the upcoming College Sport Auckland Senior One Day Tournament on Thursday 5th March at Rosedale Park, Albany. Entries for this competition close Monday 24th February. For more information, refer to our Softball Information page.
